Shipwreck MV Imperial Eagle
Built in 1938 by J.Crown and Sons Ltd Shipbuilders in Sunderland,England,weighing 257 gross tinnes with an approximate lenght of 45 meters.Named New Royal Lady,she was requisitioned by the Royal Navy for transport duties,attached to the US Navy,and then transfereed to port defense duties.In 1947 she was sold to John Hall,Kirkcaldy,for service on the Firth of Forth and renamed Royal Lady.Later in 1947 she was sold on to General Steam Navigation Co.Ltd.London for Thames dock cruises and renamed Crested Eagle.In 1957 she was purchased by Magro Bros.Malta.After modification to carry 70 passengers and 10 cars,she was renamed Imperial Eagle,and carried out this service between Mgarr Harbour in Gozo and Marfa Harbour in Malta until the mid 1970s,after which time she was used for storage.
